Happy 10 Month Birthday, Molly Grace. As usual, I'm a day late!
You are into everything these days! You are crawling everywhere, but would much rather get up and walk. You really think you can! You pull up on everything. More and more you are standing up in the middle of the floor on your own. You've started this jumping thing! As you crawl you just sort of lunge up and forward! It's really funny!
You wave at anyone and everything! You put on a shy act in front of strangers. You scare easily and if someone happens to startle you, you don't forget it!
You love people from afar. You kept busy in church this morning by flirting with the row of youth boys behind us. I think we're in trouble!

Mommy Had a Little Lamb
...and she was the cutest little lamb ever!
We had a great Saturday. This morning we slept a little late (by late I mean7:15!). Molly Grace was so surprised to find her Mamaw and Papaw here when she got up this morning! They snuck in last night after she was in bed. She had a great time playing with them and they even brought her a Halloween Goody Bag.

We had a yummy breakfast at Cracker Barrel. My little porker enjoyed a breakfast of grits, blueberry pancakes, baked apples and biscuit with gravy. She sampled a little of everything!
We spent the afternoon at our church's Fall Festival. The weather was absolutely perfect! Sunny and cool. Molly Grace looked precious in her little lamb costume. I wasn't sure she'd leave the hat on, but it never bothered her! I spent 4 Halloweens wishing I had a little one to dress up and enjoy. This year was a dream come true! I had a great time walking around with my family! Molly Grace wasn't old enough to enjoy any of the games or candy this year, but she loved being outside all day!
We came home afterward and she crashed! We broke all the rules and took a nap together in the recliner! We've been really strict about her napping in her crib since we started "sleep training", but today I just wanted to hold her!

Sleeping Beauty
I think she finally has the hang of this sleeping business! She slept all night Wednesday and Thursday night! She cried out a couple times last night, but went right back to sleep on her own! She doesn't even fuss now when we lay her down! I didn't even have to pat her tonight. I'm so happy for her, but I miss rocking her so much! Tonight when she finished her bottle she snuggled up to me and felt so good! I sure didn't want to lay her down! But I did!
We've got a busy weekend ahead. Her grandparents are coming in tonight so spend the night. Tomorrow we're going to the petting zoo and our church's fall festival. Sunday we're going to get her new carseat then some trick-or-treating (or really just tagging along with her cousins)!

Yay for Sleeping!!
She slept ALL night long last night!!! Hip Hip Hooray! She woke up happy as could be at 6am this morning! She talked in her crib, crawled around and was thrilled when her daddy went and got her!
Tonight she fussed and cried when we laid her down, but I stood by her crib 'shhhh-ing' and moved further and further away until I was out of the room. She fell asleep on her own!
She's a much happier baby and we're a much happier mommy and daddy the past couple days! It was miserable hearing her cry, but in the long run I know it's what we had to do. And I feel good knowing we never left her all alone to just cry herself to sleep. She never once fell asleep exhausted from crying and we still got the results we needed (or are well on our way to getting them!).
On another note, this little piggy is a porker! ha! Her daddy says she must have a hollow leg! She will eat and eat until we finally cut her off! Here's what she had today...
8 oz, stage 2 fruit and 1 oz oatmeal for breakfast
4 oz, stage 2 veggie and 1 oz oatmeal for lunch (and she munched some fruit off her buddy's tray at school!)
8 oz snack
a TON of roast, carrots and potatoes for dinner
baked pears for dessert
8 oz before bed
Finally at dinner I cut her off! She was shoveling the food into her mouth as soon as I put it on her tray. At one point she shoved my hand out of the way to get to it! She's so funny!
There is absolutely NOTHING in this world like being a mommy! I knew it would be wonderful, but I never could have imagined how wonderful!

Kisses, Spiders and Waves
Tonight at dinner Molly Grace was all about giving me kisses! I would lean in to give her a kiss and she'd grab my hair, pull me to her and lay an open mouth kiss on me! It was so funny. She just kept doing it over and over and laughing. It was great - until she chomped down on my cheek! She thought that was really funny, too!
MG's favorite song has always been Itsy Bitsy Spider. She's started doing the motions with us now! She'll do her fingers like a spider crawling then when we sing "out came the sun..." she'll raise her hands above her head! She's so stinkin' smart!
She's all about waving these days. She waves at anyone and everyone. This morning I was walking out of her bedroom with her and she was turned around waving at her crib!

Sleep Update
I feel like all I write about lately is sleep, but that has pretty much consumed us! She's still the sweetest, smartest, sassiest girl I know! She's amazing, I just need her to sleep!
Night #5 started out rough, but once we got her to sleep finally she slept until 6:30am Sunday morning! She cried out a couple times, but never woke up and we never had to go in there.
Night #6 was a different story! She went down without a fight and we thought we were off easy. Then she woke up at 12:30. Her daddy went in, laid her down and she went right back to sleep. At 3:30am she woke up again and she was fired up! She did not want to lay back down. She wanted to be held. It was the most heartbreaking cry. I laid her down and patted, she cried. I laid her down and patted again, she cried. I let her cry for 7 minutes then went back in. I laid her down and patted her. Then I just stood by her crib. She'd open her eyes every few seconds to make sure she could see me. I backed up a little and stood for a minute. Then backed up a little more and stood. I did this until I was out of the room. She slept until 6:30 and woke up happy as could be and played in her crib for a good 15 minutes before I got her. On a positive note, this was the first morning she's woken up happy and played in her crib without crying for us!
Night #7 - it's too soon to tell yet, but it's looking good! She went down at 7:45 and we're hoping for a good one!

Sleep Troubles
I bragged too soon! Last night (night #4) she went down fine, but woke up at 12am, 1am, 3:30am then got up at 6:30am. At 3:30 we let her CIO. She cried for quite a while until she went to sleep and slept until 6:30.
Tonight (night #5) has been like starting all over. We laid her down at 7:30 and have already been in there 4 times just in 30 minutes. She's beyond tired, but won't stay asleep. She wakes up freaking out again. I gave her Motrin before bed so it shouldn't be her teeth. She just wants us to hold her! And I so wish I could!

Sleeping Success
Just had to update...
Night #3 of our version of "sleep training" = SUCCESS!!! We laid her down, she fussed a minute, squirmed and got comfy and passed out!! I'm so happy!
She did wake up twice last night. Once Jamey patted her and she went right back to sleep. The 2nd time, Jamey calmed her down and laid her back down. She was wide awake when he left the room, but she didn't cry at all. She talked to herself for a few minutes then went right back to sleep!
And just 'cause she's so darn cute, here are some pics!

42 Weeks and a 5th tooth!
Wow! 42 weeks sounds like a lot! I had to go back and count how many weeks old MG is to make this post! I lost count after awhile. Life with a (almost) 10 month old keeps me busy!
Just a few highlights this week:
*You have started playing Peek-A-Boo with us! You will pull a blanket, bib, towel, or anything up over your face and yank it down! It's too cute!
*You LOVE Itsy Bitsy Spider. You do your fingers and raise your hands up for "out came the sun". Sometimes you'll start doing your fingers when you want us to sing! You grin from ear to ear when we do! Tonight's dinner music was my beautiful voice singing your favorite song! ha!
*You are getting closer to walking everyday. You try so hard to stand up on your own without pulling up. I'm just waiting for the day you stand up in the middle of the floor!
*You take several steps holding our hands. And are getting a little steadier at pushing your walker and taking a few steps. It always goes faster than you, though!
*Your favorite playing spot is underneath your jumperoo!
*Your favorite toys are little "Roll Around" balls from Fisher Price. They're the perfect size for your little hands.
*You eat almost anything we eat for supper now. Last night you had a cheese omelet and tonight you ate chicken and rice! You're a little eater for sure!
*You jibber-jabber constantly and loudly! You love to talk! You say da-da very clearly and very often. You say ma-ma more and more. You've said "bite", "cat", "hi". You mimic us a lot!
*Your laugh is such an all-out belly laugh. I love it! When we kiss your belly, you really let out a sweet laugh!
**The biggest news is that you are getting your 5th tooth!! You now have 3 on top and 2 on bottom! It makes for the sweetest grin and the hardest bites! You've left teeth marks on me 3 times this week!
Looong nights
The last few weeks have been some loong nights at our house. We tried everything...rocking her, putting her in bed with us, changing her, blankets, dolls, music, different night light...I mean everything! And none of it worked. MG was still waking up every hour or so. Monday night she cried until 1:00 am then slept until 5:00 am. I was exhausted and knew we had to do something.
I am absolutely NOT a fan of letting a baby "cry it out". I don't have the heart for it. When my baby cries, I want to hold her, rock her, love on her and let her know I'm there. But we knew something had to be done. She was exhausted, but only wanted to sleep on me. Last night we decided to try a modified CIO method. One that we were both OK with and didn't leave MG in there all by herself crying herself to sleep. We didn't rock her to sleep like we've always done. We gave her a bottle, rocked and loved her until she was drowsy and laid her down awake. She got right back and up cried. We picked her up, kissed her and comforted her, then layed her right back down and patted her then left the room. We let her cry for 5 minutes the first time before I went in, comforted her and laid her back down and patted. For the next hour we went in every few minutes when she was crying, laid her down and patted her. Finally, at 8:00, I patted her a minute and she fell asleep and slept until 5 am! I'm so glad we stuck with it. She was in a really good mood today!
Tonight went like a dream. Seriously! We gave her a bath and bottle. Her daddy loved on her, then I loved on her and laid her down. She cried and I patted her until she calmed down. I left the room and she got up and cried again. I gave her a few minutes, went in and calmed her and patted. She closed her eyes and went to sleep. That was an hour ago and we haven't heard anything else from her! I'm praying for a whole night of sleep!

Weekend
We had a pretty good weekend. Friday night was the beginning of my highschool reunion. There was a tailgate before the homecoming football game. We went and had a good time. It was nice to see everyone again. We stayed for part of the game. MG loves sitting outside and watching the game, but when she's done-she's done!
Saturday we slept in a little (7:30 ha!). We were lazy all morning and just played with MG. I love mornings like that! We went running around a little later. MG fell asleep on our way to Sams so we decided to ride around on some back roads looking at some land. We ended up pretty far from home so we made a stop at an old homestead a couple towns over. They were having their harvest festival and we'd never been. MG loved being outside and we got her a really cute hat to wear to the football games! When we left, we headed to Sams. They had samples of baked apples and she ate 3 little cups full! So we bought some apples to make our own!
Today has been a super lazy day. MG's really fussy and snotty and J and I aren't feeling too great, either. We've layed around, napped, ordered pizza, and watched some football and the race. It's been a pretty good day. I've got apples in the crockpot and they smell so yummy! I've been giving MG little tastes all day and she loves them! Yay! My 2 loves are napping away in the recliner to the soothing sounds of Nascar right now! Have I mentioned that I really love that little girl and her daddy?!

I Wanna Rock-N-Roll All Night...
This is MG's new theme song, unfortunately! My perfect little sleeper has turned into a monster! It's only been a week, but it feels like an eternity and we are exhausted! I'm hoping and praying it's just a phase she'll outgrow SOON!
We still do our same night routine: dinner, play, bath, bottle, story/quiet play, rock, bed. We've always rocked her to sleep and it's never been a problem. Even when she would wake up, she'd play a little and go right back to sleep on her own. Now, she goes to sleep just fine while we're rocking her, but the minute she feels us stand up, she starts screaming and crying. She has 1 heck of a fit! We've tried everything - we let her cry it out, but that doesn't work for any of us; I've tried going in to soothe in every few minutes, but that just makes her madder; we've rocked her back to sleep, but the cycle just starts all over! Last night I finally got her to sleep by letting her cry a little, rocking her, then patting her to sleep. But she woke up 3 times last night! She's having some severe seperation anxiety these days so I'm thinking that has something to do with it. She doesn't want either of us to leave the room - ever! She's also teething and has had a nasty cold for over a week.

9 Month Stats
Today was MG's 9 month check-up. She got a really good report!
Weight: 19.7 lbs - 65%
Height: 27" - 25% (her ped called her a shorty! ha!)
Head: 16 1/2 - 50%
He was pleased with her growth and said she obviously wasn't missing any meals! She's right on track developmentally. She's still a little behind in her fine motor skills, but we knew that and we're working on it!
Her ears looked good. He said she had some terrible, hard wax build-up which was probably making her ears a little sore. He was afraid to get it out because it was so hard it would probably make her ears bleed. :-( So our homework is to splash water in her ears every night at bathtime. Here I've been trying to keep water OUT of her ears!
She's really snotty and stuffy again. He said it's probably just a cold/sinuses/allergies. Her strawberry hasn't really grown in a couple months, so he doesn't think it will get any/much bigger.
Poor MG was in a pretty good mood other than being miserable! She was fine in the waiting room, but as soon as we stepped into the exam room she started whining and crying! She loved playing with the paper on the table, though. She made a really good mess of it! She also love playing with the stethescope. The poor doctor had to pry her hands off it! He said "you sure are a strong one!"! Yeah, she is!
I promised the poor girl there would be no shots - but she ended up getting her flu shot today! She took it pretty well. She screamed and carried on for awhile, but got over it pretty quick. It was mostly a dramatic display! ha!
Last night was a loooong night at our house. MG screamed and cried until 10:30. She was miserable and didn't want to go to sleep. She can't fall asleep without sucking her fingers and she can't breathe right now if she sucks them! It's such a tough decision - breathe or suck! We tried the whole "cry it out" method, but she screamed and screamed until I was afraid she'd make herself sick. Finally, at 10:30 she let me rock her to sleep. I could hear the poor thing snoring and snotting over the intercom all night long!
She's not the only snotty one! I know how miserable she is because I feel the same way! She and I are taking a day off together tomorrow. Neither one of us feels like going to school so we're going to have a lazy, sick day at home! I can't wait!
I've been horrible about posting pictures. One of these days I'll get caught up!
