9 months

Molly Grace, you are 9 months old today! This time 9 months ago I was visiting you for the first time in NICU. I can't believe you are the same baby! God has blessed us way beyond what we deserve. You are an amazing little girl and I love you so very much!

What are you up to?

*You are wearing size 6-9 month clothes.

*You wear size 3 diapers.

*You wear size 1 shoes in length, but need size 2 for your chubby tootsies!

*You crawl like a pro - you're everywhere fast!

*You pull up to any and everything!

*You will let go and stand on your own for a few seconds.

*You've started waking up at 5 am, playing in your crib for a little bit then going back to sleep.

*You are eating 2 meals a day - breakfast of oatmeal and fruit and dinner of what we're eating or baby food. You love feeding yourself finger foods!

*You take 5 bottles a day still - about 35 oz a day.

*You're favorite place is still outside. You will whine and fuss if we walk near the back door and don't go out!

*You're sleeping from 7:30 (or 8:00) pm until 6:30 am.

*You're the sweetest, smartest, prettiest, lovingest, fiestiest, sassiest little girl I know! And you're all mine and I love you!

She's a big girl!

It's official...Molly Grace is turning into a big girl! I never knew being a mom would be so bittersweet! On a daily basis I'm torn between being happy and excited about what she's doing/learning or being sad because she's changing so quickly.

Tonight's dinner was the very first time Molly Grace had all finger foods, no baby food at all! She fed herself the entire dinner! We had grilled cheese and chicken veggie stew. She picked up those carrots, bread and green beans like a pro! She would get so excited when I'd put a new bite on her tray she'd shake all over! She's an eater like her mommy! More and more she's wanting to feed herself. At dinner we have to have at least 1 thing she can pick up and feed herself or she has a fit. I'm so grateful that the teeny-tiny baby that we had to tube feed now eats like a little pig! 9 months ago I would've laughed at anyone who told me she'd be eating so good now!

Molly Grace is getting so good at drinking from a sippy cup. We have at least 6 different kinds in our cabinet and it turns out she likes the straw kind. She loves her water. Tonight, for the first time, she grabbed up her cup (the one with no handles even!), dragged it to her mouth and got herself a drink!

Sleeping all night...pulling up...scaling furniture...crawling everywhere...feeding herself...getting herself a drink...3 teeth...SERIOUSLY???? Where has time gone! Sometimes (call me crazy) I miss those 2 am feedings with my teeny-tiny, cuddly baby! Who would've thought?!

Fun Times and a New Tooth

Molly Grace had a great time visiting with her cousins this weekend!

She's been so fussy, drooly, and a chewing monster lately so I knew she had to be teething. Sure enough, tonight I got brave and stuck my finger in her mouth and felt her upper, left front tooth!

Fun Stuff

I absolutely love the stage Molly Grace is at right now. She's so much fun! I just can't get over how much she's changed! She's 'talking' more and more. She actually says a few words - da-da and hi are her favorites. She finally says ma-ma, but it's still mostly when she's fussing at me! She says hey pretty clearly, too!

She is pulling and pushing up on any and everything she can get her hands on! Everytime I turn my back, she's into something else! She got her first bruise today. She was pulling up on the recliner handle and went down on it. She actually cried - which is pretty uncommon for her. She can bump her head, fall down, flip over and never shed a tear. So when she cried this time, I knew it hurt! She has a tiny little bruise on her chin.

It just amazes me how much she understands - she's so smart! Every night after dinner we go outside and play with Sophie, our dog. Tonight she was in the living room with her daddy playing and I was in the kitchen cleaning up. From the kitchen I said "Molly, want to go play with Sophie?" and immediately she started fussing and crawling toward the kitchen where I was (and where our back door is). When I walked toward her she started reaching and going uh-uh-uh. I am convinced she knew what I said!

I think she is finally over her cold - it only took a month! I am dreading cold/flu/RSV season!

Are you ready for some football?

Tonight MG experienced her first college football game. We went to cheer on the Redwolves for their first home game. I ordered her the cutest dress in our school colors and it was delivered today a couple hours before the game! I was so happy.

Molly Grace did great at the game. She got really sleepy at the half, though. We made it until there was 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter! It was an awesome game and we hated to leave, but the little princess was exhausted after 2 late nights! She passed out the minute we put her in the car!

Football Season

I love fall and I love football! It's my very favorite time of year. I love the cool air, the sounds, the excitement...I love it all! And tonight I shared that love with my sweet baby girl! We took her to her very first football game. My high school Alma Mater and the school district where I am employed now had a big game tonight. It was packed. We got there an hour before the game started and stayed through halftime. Molly Grace did great. She didn't cry or fuss once. She laughed, smiled, talked, jumped and danced! She was loving it, and so was I! We were both decked out in our school spirit gear and I'm the crazy fan who gets excited, jumps up and yells...this year while holding my 8 month old! ha! She didn't slow me down! She laughed and jumped right along with me! I love her and I love getting to introduce her to new things.

We didn't get home until a little after 9pm. We put her jammies on and rocked a little bit then she was out!

Tomorrow night is our local college's first home game. It doesn't start until 7pm either. I don't know if we're brave enough to try it again so soon! We'll see!

36 Weeks (and a day)

Molly Grace was 36 weeks old yesterday. I'm absolutely in awe of God's love and blessings everytime I look at her! This little miracle is what I prayed for, cried over and yearned for for so long! And now she's growing and changing before my eyes! I love it! We had a pretty rough night last night. She didn't want to go to sleep at all, but she was so tired. She cried and cried for hours. I went in once to calm her and she was standing in her crib. The minute I got close enough she grabbed onto my shirt and had the most pitiful cry! I picked her up (for about the 5th time) and rocked her. As I rocked her and thought about how tired I was and how badly I wanted to go to bed myself, I remembered all those nights I cried and prayed for a baby to rock! I always said I would never complain about having to rock a crying baby - I'd be grateful to hear that cry. And I am! Every single time. As I rocked her, I loved on her, thanked God for her and prayed for those who's hearts are hurting for a child of their own.

This is such an amazing and fun time in Molly's life. This is my favorite stage yet, by far. She's so active and so much fun. She's a pro at crawling now - and I mean for real crawling! Tuesday night she just all of a sudden took off! What she really wants to do is stand up, though. It makes her so happy. She pulls up on everything and is getting really good at scaling around.

She's still very vocal! Growling is her main source of communication! ha! She says "da" pretty clearly and often. I get a "mum" or "mama" usually just when she's fussing - and she has no idea what she's saying, but I'll take what I can get!

Dinner time is interesting these days. Molly Grace would much rather eat with her hands than be fed with a spoon! We have to put something on her tray to keep her busy just to get her to take anything off a spoon! Tonight she had pancakes for the first time and literally gobbled them up! Her pincher grasp is getting better, but she still tries to scoop it up. It doesn't matter how she picks it up, though, because she immediately puts her middle 2 fingers in her mouth and the food almost never makes it in!

Molly Grace weighs 18 lbs, 4 oz these days. I can't wait to find out how tall she is at her 9 month checkup. She looks like she's grown a foot!

She's a growler

Yesterday in Walmart, my child growled at everyone we passed. When we were standing in the check-out line, she was on my hip. She looked at the sweet older lady behind us and growled at her!

Tonight at Cracker Barrel we were having a nice dinner. A baby on the other side of the restaurant starting crying - loudly. MG growled...and growled louder...and louder! She was not going to let that baby be heard over her!

Oh boy! We're going to have our hands full!

Speaking of hands full...I guess I should also mention - for my own benefit years down the road when I go back and read this - that she has officially started throwing fits. I'm talking throwing the head back, kicking and crying fits! Luckily not in public...yet! Mostly it's in the evenings when I try to take her out of her swing outside. The minute she sees me start to unbuckle her she loses it! The best ones are when she's in the bathtub and starts kicking and water goes everywhere!
