12 month checkup

LK got a great report at her checkup.  She weighs 21lbs (50%) and is 31" tall (80%).  She had a big growth spurt since her last visit.  She's always been 50% in height until now!  She's going to be a tall girl like her sissy.  She got 2 shots which she hated!  They also pricked her finger to check her iron, she didn't even flinch for that!  She sat in my lap just watching the nurse!   We have to start switching to a sippy and getting off the bottle.  That's going to be tough with this girl. She loves her bottle!  It makes her really mad when you put her milk in a sippy!  She's a little headstrong like another little Thornton girl I know!  So happy for a healthy, strong little girl!  We are blessed for sure!

6 Months

Lily Kate, you're already 6 months old!  Time is flying by.  You're such a good baby. Easy going and always smiling-unless you're hungry then you turn into a mad diva!  You have the biggest, happiest smile I've ever seen. Your whole little face lights up. It's precious.  You smile anytime Molly Grace talks to you!  She's your favorite for sure.  She can say absolutely anything and it makes you laugh!  You watch her and if you're in your walker you follow!  She's just as crazy about you, too. I've never seen a big sister so in love with their little sister.  Sometimes we have to make her leave you alone!  She always wants to pick you up, hold you, stand you up and help you walk. She's so good to you!

At 6 months you're the perfect size according to your pediatrician.  You weigh 17.1 lbs and you're 26" tall.  That puts you in the 70 and 75th percentiles. The dr said you act more like a 7 month old because you're so strong!  You always have been.  You came out holding your head up!

You're wearing size 6-9 month clothes and size 2 diapers, although we're about to have to move up to 3s!

You can sit on your own and you're much happier that way than laying down. You love to sit and play with your blocks. You're getting close to crawling but sometimes I think you'll walk before you crawl!  You love to stand up. Whether it's your jumper or walker or just us holding you, you're happiest when standing. You love bath time, it's your favorite!  You splash and smile the whole time.  It's a good thing since you have to have a bath almost every time you eat baby food!

You have your first tooth!  It's on the bottom.  I wasn't sure I would survive your teething but I did!  Ha!  You had it rough. You're not the best sleepe anyway but while cutting that tooth it went from bad to worse!

It's almost your first Christmas and I can't wait!  You love the lights on the tree. You're always trying to get your hands on MG's pink tree!

Spring Break 2016

We've had a great Spring Break!  We've stayed at home mostly and just hung out. The weather has been ok-good enough to let us get out most days.  We're all completely off schedule and spoiled and ready for summer now!

We started the week off with a birthday party for MG's BFF.  It was at the skating rink, MG had only been skating one other time and she was just 3 and didn't even remember it!  I wasn't sure how she would do, but she got out there and loved it!  She's pretty good, too!

My favorite part has been all the snuggles and naps!  I know the time for these is limited so I've spent the week soaking it up (and spoiling her)!

This girl loves being outside!  She cries at the back door to go out. She doesn't care if it's cold, windy, cloudy, she just wants out!  She's not a huge fan of her baby corral though!

We took her walker outside while MG skated and they both took off!  LK chased big sis down the street!  They both had a blast.  We ended up going to get MG some skates because that's all she talked about after the party!  She's already gotten her money's worth out of them!

When did my 6 year old turn 13?!  She just looks so grown. I love it/hate it!  One day Pap took her and he boys to the nature center. They had a blast!

We spent one afternoon shopping for Easter outfits at the mall with granny. We somehow ended up in Build-A-Bear and the bunny ears ended up on LK!  We thought it was sweet and funny, she didn't really agree!  Her face says it all!

LK suffered her first run in with the wall and ended up with her first knot and bruise.  She cried all of 3 minutes!  It hurt me a lot more than it hurt her!

Jamey had a load of gravel dumped in the driveway and I'm pretty sure that was MGs favorite part next to skating!  

<p>

I found some Resurrection Eggs at Walmart awhile back. I had forgotten about them so we've been doing 2 eggs a night to catch up. MG is eating it up and abets to open them.  Every time we open a new one she starts at the beginning and tells the story.  It makes me so proud of her!  She has compassion and sadness for the pain Jesus felt and I can see her absorbing the hugeness of what He did for us.  This is my favorite part of the week!

Big mouth frog (aka LK!) discovered the joy of hearing herself in the microphone!  She loves music, loves to dance and loves to "sing"!

This little star sang her heart out on the karaoke machine, danced until she was out of breath then sat down to write a book!  

This week has been great!  My girls are so much fun and growing so fast!  I love being home with them!  We're ready to enjoy a great Easter weekend then start soccer practice Monday night!  

LK Turns 1

LK, you are a whole year old!  It's so hard to believe you've been in our world that long!  You are such a fun kid!  You're full of spunk like your sissy, you're a free spirit and know exactly what you want, you don't give up easily!  I love those things about you and hope they never change!  

You've hit some pretty big milestones lately.  You took your first long road trip, all the way to Gatlinburg!  You loved the creek and threw a fit to get in it every time you saw it!  You loved walking up town and looking all around.  The aquarium had you fascinated.  I'm still completely shocked at how wonderful and perfect you were in the car!  You slept, ate and watched Barney.  I barely remember you getting fussy at all. 

While we were in Gatlinburg, we had your birthday party right on the creek!  We grilled out, played in the water, opened presents and had cake. It was perfect. So special just like you!  Auntie, Aunt Pat and Amber were there with us. Of course Granny, Pap, Mamie, Jon-Jon, Josh, Caleb and us were there. We even had Lynn and Tee there!  

You weren't too impressed with the cake. You ate some icing but mostly just smeared it around!  You got a creek bath afterward, though, and that made you happy!  The presents were more for my benefit than yours. You weren't really into it, but I had fun!  

You also started walking on our trip!!  You'd been taking 1-2 then 2-3 steps for a few weeks. But one night around 10:30 we were hanging out in Granny and Pap's cabin and you decided to walk!  You walked back and forth between me and Granny at least 30 times. The look of joy and pride in your face was priceless!  You knew you had done good!  We were all so proud of you!  You have not stopped walking since. You're everywhere!  It's still a little strange to look up and see you walking!  But you're definitely the cutest!

You have 5 teeth already!  You're cutting 2 more right now. You have the cutest, wildest hair!  You smile and laugh all the time. You jabber constantly. You love to shake your head no at us. 

I love you but you're still the worst sleeper ever!  I've adjusted well to sleeping in 1-2 hour spurts all night. And you're happy so that's all that matters!  

We love you so much and I'm so glad you're mine!
